Although Biotech companies maintain that their products are safe and beneficial, the truth is very different. Consuming plants and animals which have been (or have been fed) genetically modified constitutes participating in the largest human experiment ever conducted -- without your consent!

ALTHOUGH MOST PEOPLE DO NOT REALIZE IT, THE US IS THE ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD THAT PERMITS UNLABLED USE OF GMO FOODS.

GMOs plants are NOT assessed for safety before (or after) they are released by any government agency. Unlike a dangerous or deadly drug (think Vioxx), once released, a GMO cannot be recalled because its genetic material, although unstable, is transmissible: it is shared by wind and pollinating insects and joins the gene pool, never to be recalled or cancelled.

In fact, unless they are "Terminator" varieties which confer sterility on a plant, forcing the purchase of more GMO seed, they are often engineered for increased hardiness and the ability to overgrow natural varieties of the species. Worse yet, despite assurance that the genetic material is stable and the patented organism if able to breed true (not mutate or change its characteristics), that turns out to be absolutely untrue. In fact, GMOs are highly variable and the inserted material has the capacity to "wander" inside the nucleus of the GMO so that its expression (or characteristics and impact on you) varies unpredictably. The genetic material also wanders inside you. Again, despite inaccurate assurances from the corporate scientists (equivalent to corporate assurances that drugs are well tested and safe although 40% of them are recalled within 5 years of release), the unstable genes are capable of passing through the inestinal tract and getting incoroporated into your own DNA.

But the Government checks them out, right? Well, no. GMO plants may be released into the environment WITHOUT SAFETY TESTING since the government offers companies the opportunity to particiapte in the voluntary "Substantial Equivalence" program but even that is not required. You've got a patent and you want to release this genetic experiement? Fine! We'll sort out what it does to people later (or we won't), says our government. Organ system failure? Cancer? Fetal malformation and death? Auto Immune Disease? Blood changes? Fatal allergies? Cool! It's a no-hold-barred corporate free-for-all.

The list of dangers is growing as independent scientists explore these genetic experiments and their impact on humans and the environment. The news is not good. But you have a choice.
